BSDCan starts in less than a week! Here are some details to keep you
informed:
The first official BSDCan 2026 event -- the Goat BoF -- takes place
less than a week from today. The Goat BoF is an informal gathering for
early arrivals and yes, there is a goat.
This year, we have our own WIFI SSID provided by the University of
Ottawa:
SSID: BSDCan
* Please note* the PSK SSID password will be printed on the back of your
BSDCan badge.
The University of Ottawa guest network restricts outbound traffic to
certain ports. We've requested more open ports [1], but we can't
check the actual state until we arrive. Like many folks who travel
frequently, you might consider running an SSH server on port 80 and
443 as the number of open ports can vary year over year.

We also have a newcomers orientation and membership session Thursday
night at 6PM, in the U90 Lobby Lounge. If you've never been to
BSDCan before, our fifteen-minute talk will help orient you and give
you a chance to meet old hands who are volunteering to help ease you
into the community. Bring your questions and we can help you find your
BSDCan legs.
For conference speaker who would like to test their HDMI video
connectivity, we will have a speakers testing session in the Hacker
Lounge in U90 at 5:30pm.
Act quickly if you want to land one of lightning talks spots. To
register, email your name and talk title to lightning at bsdcan.org or talk
to us in person at the registration desk. Deadline Friday June 19, 5pm
to sign up. First come, first served!
On Friday shortly after 5pm, we'll let you know how much time you have.
Lightning Talk Slides:
- Must be emailed to lightning at bsdcan.org before Saturday June 20, 9am.
- Must be PDF, not powerpoint or keynote. We don't care what software
you use to make your
slides; just export it to PDF.
